Classname Basic Card Weaving
Instructor Jayne Flannagan
Description Starting with a simple technique and simple tools, you will discover the satisfaction of creating a narrow card or tablet woven band. Learn to read its special draft, how to warp the cards, and basic rotation through the sheds. You will begin to understand how simple variations can create rich and complex bands well beyond the basics. Historically, these sturdy bands have been used as laces, ties, cloth embellishments and even sewn together to make pouches, bags and clothing. Examples will suggest ideas for color pattern design and possibilities for advanced study. Continuous warping will be demonstrated.
