Session Two-Day Workshops: Saturday, Sunday 08:30:00-11:30:00
Classname Lace: Weaving Air and Light
Instructor Laurie Autio
Description Weaving lace is the art of adding floats to plain weave, allowing the threads to bend and move so that light and air become part of the design. Using many examples and round-robin weaving we will examine the workings and characteristics of five laces (huck, Swedish lace, canvas, lace Bronson, and Spot Bronson). Knowing the special properties of the individual laces, designs can be executed more effectively and fine-tuned to take advantage of the interlacement. The class will include 4 hours of lecture and 8 hours of weaving.
